RCMA Wimauma Dolphins Go Undefeated

Wimauma soccer team

It’s not easy being perfect, but that is exactly what the RCMA Wimauma Community Academy (WCA) soccer team was able to do this year! The Hillsborough County school’s soccer team has yet another title and trophy to add to their trophy case. The Dolphins were victorious over Kids Community College in the championship final 2-1, after being down at the half 1-0. This caps an undefeated season of 8-0.

“Soccer is a sport we succeed in the most,” said Joe Puente, Sports Director at WCA. “We’ve won many championships and we’re proud to win together every year. Many of the young men and women from our community have played soccer their whole lives. I’ve coached soccer for many years here at RCMA and my goal is to pass on the discipline and knowledge it takes to play this sport to the kids. While the players bring a lot of talent to the field, they sometimes lack the necessary mental skills it takes to play any sport. We do our best to pass on good skills to our athletes, hoping they take that knowledge with them to compete at the next level. I’m very proud of them!”

Operating since 2000, WCA serves 339 students in grades K-8. The school is ranked in the top 50% of all 3,655 schools in Florida (based off of combined math and reading proficiency testing data) for the 2020-21 school year.
