MISSION:

RCMA Immokalee Community Academy, serving the area for more than twenty years, is dedicated to opening doors of opportunity for the children of Florida’s farmworkers and agricultural migrants. Most students in our small, community-oriented classes are English Language Learners of Central American heritage with big dreams of making their mark. Our teachers often comment on how privileged they feel to work with young people who so greatly appreciate learning! In order to best serve our student population, the school is a dual language program school (50:50, English/Spanish), with a one-way immersion model.

Our successful K-8 Charter School is located in Immokalee, Florida. Our school serves approximately 340 children, with two homerooms per grade level from K-8; our small size allows us to serve our students and their families on a personal level.

Redlands Christian Migrant Association, RCMA, is a non-profit corporation serving Florida agriculture workers and their children for more than fifty years. RCMA is recognized as a “Schools of Hope operator” by the State Board of Education, a prestigious designation for non-profit, charter school operators.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for performing the duties of the receptionist and managing the receptionist desk.  This is the first place of contact for the public, in person and on the phone, so it is critically important to be sensitive to the parents and provide first-class customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following; other duties as assigned.

  1. Greets walk-ins and visitors and refers to the appropriate staff/program agency. Issues visitor badges and follows procedures for safety.
  2. Answers and directs telephone calls; records and delivers messages promptly.
  3. Assists the academy social worker with parent services as needed.
  4. Serves as the academy representative for community events, including consulado movil, food distribution, tamalada, etc. Participates in planning with area team, communicates academy-wide events, and attends to assist with implementation.
  5. Tends to children sent to the office who do not feel well, assures they are comforted, treated according to policies, and parents called when necessary.
  6. Manages the schedule for classrooms, cafeteria, and other rooms utilized by the public and activities. Keeps track of public room keys.
  7. Assists with opening mail.
  8. Receives and signs for UPS, Federal Express, Airborne, etc.
  9. Works with center/academy staff in setting up appointments and providing parents with information.
  10. Shares and open to suggestions for improving work systems and the environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Up to one year of experience in an office setting is preferred.
