PURPOSE: The Controller is responsible for the organization’s accounting practices, management, and maintenance of its fiscal records has overall responsibility for strong internal controls, and ensures timely financial reporting. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting staff management and works closely with the Finance Manager, team leaders, management team, and external auditors. Controller directly oversees all aspects of the accounting function of the organization. In addition, the Controller possesses comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP.

SUPERVISION

  • Supervises an accounting staff of 10 or more. Supervises all daily operations of accounting and payroll teams.
  • Performs accounting department’s employee reviews and develops corrective action plans when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following; however, other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax
  • Prepares network-wide financial statements on monthly bases, including the statement of activities, and the statement of financial position.
  • Assists the Associate Executive Director of Business and Finance in the preparation of the budget vs actual variance reports; assist with explanation of variances.
  • Communicates effectively and keeps the organization’s Associate Executive Director of Business and Finance apprised of pertinent accounting information.
  • Oversees the accurate tracking and reporting of all programs, projects, and
  • Leads the timely and accurate tracking and reporting of all revenue
  • Updates and maintains accounting policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and updates internal control policies ensuring the segregation of duties and safeguarding of the organization’s assets.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA is preferred.
