PURPOSE OF POSITION: Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information, provides program budgets for grant applications, prepares account reconciliations, utilizes appropriate accounting control procedures, and adheres to strict deadlines. Communicates fiscal information and reporting to all levels of RCMA staff and works closely with other departments to obtain information necessary for financial statement preparation and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:
- Prepares bank reconciliations.
- Reconciles detailed reports and prepares reimbursement requests for various miscellaneous funding sources.
- Reconciles assigned General Ledger Accounts daily and analyzes monthly.
- Ensures all posted entries are accurately reported and follow protocol.
- Analyzes and reviews budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding contracts and grants.
- Reviews the classification and distribution of income to proper accounts.
- Reviews journal entries for all federal, state, and local funding, revenue, invoices, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Reviews accounts receivable on a monthly basis reporting relevant activity to the Accounting Manager.
- Prepares journal entries for revenue accruals.
- Maintains all records by project on account in Shared Drive.
- Assists the Accounting Manager with documentation in assigned tasks.
- Ensures adherence to RCMA’s revenue allocation plan and makes recommendations for appropriate changes when necessary.
- Ensures entries are made on the basis of funder requirements.
- Ensures strict adherence to financial deliverables and month-end closing deadlines.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty element satisfactorily while exercising independent judgment and discretion under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager. REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a combination of 5-7 years of accounting experience required.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Proficiency with ten key calculators and computers.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be 21 years of age or older. Able to work flexible hours, occasional evenings, and varying daytime shifts during weekdays. Some weekend work is required, especially at year-end and during reporting deadlines. Must have or be able to obtain a Florida driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to RCMA’s insurance carrier. Ability to work well with volunteers and the community.
