With decades of experience managing Head Start programs, RCMA senior staff played pivotal roles at the National Head Start Association (NHSA) annual conference held May 2-5 in Baltimore.
Executive Director Isabel Garcia and Director of Farmworker Advocacy Lourdes Villanueva sit on the NHSA Board representing the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association. They attended a Board orientation session and meeting.
Isabel also helped new Head Start operators attending the Directors Academy. She presented “Ten Top Things a New Director Wants to Know” and was a panelist for “Seize the Day – How We Navigated the Journey/Building Your Team.”
Associate Executive Director Kathy Vega was a panelist for the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association’s “Share Your Regional Expertise, State Concerns or Issues” discussion.
We also had three staff who work as Family and Community Engagement Specialists attend the certification course for the Family Development Credential. In turn, they will be responsible for training and certifying our Family Support Workers.
“RCMA provides Head Start services to more than 5,000 children annually, and much our work revolves around professional development and advocacy for Head Start funding,” says Isabel. “These conferences are important for both advocacy and professional development of key leaders in RCMA.”
