RCMA recently received a grant for $125,500 from Children’s Services Advisory Committee for Indian River County. The funds will support Early Care and Education programs at RCMA’s Whispering Pines site in Fellsmere. These funds will help RCMA provide quality, comprehensive services to the families they serve in the Indian River community, especially those families with incomes between 150-200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. RCMA partners with Child Care Resources (CCR) to address child care needs and support services. Parent workshops are also provided as part of these programs.
“We are extremely grateful to Indian River County for their gift,” said Isabel Garcia, Executive Director for RCMA. “With this grant, we will be able to provide enhancing infant and toddler care for the families we serve. Part of the funds were from the School Readiness Match (SRMAT) Program, which helps to expand our services for low-income families. This will go a long way to help some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”
The purpose of the Children’s Services Advisory Committee is to promote the health and well-being of children in Indian River County and to provide a unified system of planning and delivery within which children’s needs are identified, targeted, and addressed. Indian River County provides funding to various nonprofit organizations offering social services within its boundaries. These expenditures are funded from General Fund revenues and cover nonprofit agency funding from all ad valorem taxing funds.
