MISSION:

Academies of RCMA is a nonprofit network of K-8 Spanish/English dual language charter schools built to expand educational opportunities for low-income and migrant families living in Florida’s rural communities. PURPOSE OF POSITION: An Academies of RCMA Principal is a dynamic educational leader responsible for fostering a culture of high academic achievement, personal development, and community engagement. The Principal is responsible for the overall vision and management of their school. They are charged with leading academic initiatives and programs related to school culture that will lead to student achievement and a strong school environment. Through strategic vision and effective management, the Principal ensures that every student receives a rigorous and enriching educational experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP & SCHOOL CULTURE

  • Provides exemplary leadership to school community members in all programs.
  • Demonstrates a relentless commitment to outstanding academic achievement for all students.
  • Develops and communicates strategic school systems, culture, and vision, and builds a plan to achieve that vision.
  • Creates a joyful and inclusive school culture where students’ cultures, languages, and heritages are valued and celebrated.
  • Implements effective assessment systems and uses data to inform decisions.
  • Leads curriculum development and assessment and ensures consistency with the school program and alignment with state standards.

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT

  • Builds a dedicated, professional, and collegial community of bilingual educators who effectively work together to improve student dual language achievement and nurture social-emotional development.
  • Recruits, hires, and retains highly qualified teachers and staff members.
  • Provides ongoing professional development and coaching to support continuous improvement in teaching practices.
  • Develops individual teacher goals and professional development plans to help build best practices for all staff members to achieve stated goals.
  • Provides regular, specific teacher feedback based on classroom observations.

OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT

  • Works with the Charter Academies Operations Manager to manage functions and systems to ensure all work cohesively to deliver program excellence.
  • Ensures the highest level of accountability and compliance with all district, state, and federal policies and laws, as well as academy stakeholders.
  • Manages the school budget effectively, allocating resources strategically to support instructional priorities and maximize student outcomes.
  • Develops and manages support services for students, including Extended Day.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • Actively engages families in meaningful and successful academy partnerships, working closely with School Advisory Committee.
  • Works with teachers to ensure ongoing communication with parents and build cohesive home/academy connections.
  • Develops and nurtures partnerships with community organizations, district/federal agencies, funders, and other stakeholders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Leadership, Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of teaching and leadership experience.
  • A visionary, innovative bilingual and bicultural instructional leader with experience in mobilizing school-based teams to excellence in all areas of school operations.
  • Deep knowledge of pedagogy, instructional best practices, and coaching/mentoring.
  • Reflective practitioner who inspires and motivates all to work relentlessly in pursuit of students’ growth and other strategic goals.
  • Experience in data analysis and data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and the organization’s support functions.
  • Excellent bilingual Spanish/English oral and written communication skills.
