RCMA Mulberry Community Academy, a Title I Charter School in Polk County, is seeking an energetic and dependable Custodian!

RCMA Mulberry Community Academy is dedicated to opening doors of opportunity for the children of Florida’s farmworkers and agricultural migrants. Most students in our small, community-oriented classes are English Language Learners of Central American heritage with big dreams of making their mark. In order to best serve our student population, the school is a dual language program school (50:50, English/Spanish), with a one-way immersion model.

Our expanding K-2 Charter School is located in Mulberry, Florida. Our school will serve approximately 120 children, our small size allows us to serve our students and their families on a personal level.

Redlands Christian Migrant Association, RCMA, is a non-profit corporation serving Florida agriculture workers and their children for more than fifty years. RCMA is recognized as a “Schools of Hope operator” by the State Board of Education, a prestigious designation for non-profit, charter school operators.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To maintain a professional, clean, and sanitary facility for children, families, staff, and visitors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:

Sanitation and Cleanliness of Facility

  1. Sweeps, mops, and scrubs floors weekly and as needed.
  2. Vacuums hallways, classrooms, and any office space bi-weekly or as needed.
  3. Cleans bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, and any office space.
  4. Empties trash and garbage containers in all areas as specified.
  5. Cleans trash receptacles as needed.
  6. Keeps outside areas clean and free of trash.
  7. Dusts ceiling fans, window ledges, blinds, etc.
  8. Cleans doors, windows, and glass doors at least once a week.
  9. Regular cleaning of refrigerator, sinks, and microwaves at least once a week.
  10. Cleans and supplies all restrooms daily.
  11. Replaces faulty light bulbs.

Maintenance

  1. Replaces A/C filters quarterly.
  2. Shampoos carpets and upholstery as needed.
  3. Pressure-cleans sidewalks as needed.
  4. Paints offices as directed. Periodic touch-up of paint as needed.
  5. Notifies supervisor of any items that need to be replaced or fixed.

Maintain Supplies

  1. Makes sure all necessary supplies are fully stocked, i.e., kitchen, bathroom, and cleaning supplies.
  2. At a minimum take inventory of supplies, complete the supply form, and submit to the supervisor for ordering.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Member of the community being served and, when applicable, farm worker background.
  • Custodial experience preferred including a strong working knowledge of good housekeeping principles.
  • Experience working with cleaning chemicals and machines helpful.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
