MISSION:

RCMA Wimauma Community Academy is seeking an energetic and dependable Cook!

RCMA Wimauma Community Academy, serving the area for more than twenty years, is dedicated to opening doors of opportunity for the children of Florida’s farmworkers and agricultural migrants. Most students in our small, community-oriented classes are English Language Learners of Central American heritage with big dreams of making their mark. 

Our successful K-8 Charter School is located in Wimauma, Florida. Our school serves approximately 340 children, with two homerooms per grade level from K-8; our small size allows us to serve our students and their families on a personal level.

Redlands Christian Migrant Association, RCMA, is a non-profit corporation serving Florida agriculture workers and their children for more than fifty years. RCMA is recognized as a “Schools of Hope operator” by the State Board of Education, a prestigious designation for non-profit, charter school operators.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Prepares and cooks large quantities of food in a school cafeteria setting. Prepares menu items, such as soups, meats, vegetables, fruits, bread, salads, and a salad bar for consumption through the use of cafeteria equipment and cooking/baking processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:

  1. Prepares nutritional meals for children and staff according to USDA guidelines.
  2. Follows centralized menus and recipes.
  3. Maintains a sanitary and safe kitchen and ensures all equipment is in proper working condition. Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  4. Cleans kitchen, washes dishes, pots and pans, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, and empties trash.

NOTE:  Regular work attendance is necessary to perform the essential duties.

EXPERIENCE: Up to 1 year of experience in preparing food for large groups.

OTHER:

  • Must be age 21 or older and have or be able to obtain a Florida Driver’s License and must have dependable transportation.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
