Service Support Assistant – Charter Academy

MISSION:

RCMA Wimauma Community Academy, a Title I Charter School in Hillsborough County, is seeking an energetic and creative Service Support Assistant.

RCMA Wimauma Community Academy, serving the area for more than twenty-one years, is dedicated to opening doors of opportunity for the children of Florida’s farmworkers and agricultural migrants. Most students in our small, community-oriented classes are English Language Learners of Central American heritage with big dreams of making their mark. In order to best serve our student population, the school is a dual language program school (50:50, English/Spanish), with a one-way immersion model.

Our successful K-8 Charter School is located in Wimauma, Florida. Our school serves approximately 360 children, with two homerooms per grade level from K-8; our small size allows us to serve our students and their families on a personal level.

Redlands Christian Migrant Association, RCMA, is a non-profit corporation serving Florida agriculture workers and their children for more than fifty years. RCMA is recognized as a “Schools of Hope operator” by the State Board of Education, a prestigious designation for non-profit, charter school operators.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Charter Academy Principal, provide essential support to various administrative and operational functions within the school. This role is designed to ensure that the school runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to a positive and productive educational environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Supports Afterschool Coordinator to prepare and organize documents required for students to participate in afterschool programs. This could include enrollment forms, attendance records, and any necessary permissions or medical information.
  • Assists and screens parents who come to pick up their children which includes verifying the identity of parents or guardians who come to pick up their children to ensure the safety of the students. It may also involve maintaining a log of pick-up times and ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed to take the children.
  • Supports School Principal with In School Suspension assisting in helping to manage students who are serving in-school suspensions. This could involve supervising the students, ensuring they are completing their assignments, and maintaining a disciplined environment.
  • Supports the organization of Parent Meetings which includes helping to plan and organize meetings between parents and school staff. Tasks might include sending out invitations, preparing meeting agendas, setting up meeting spaces, and taking minutes during the meetings.
  • Assists with the administration of state-mandated tests. This could involve setting up testing environments, distributing and collecting test materials, monitoring students during tests, and ensuring that all testing protocols are followed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Up to one year of experience in an office setting is preferred.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience with economically disadvantaged families in a community setting.
