Wimauma Scholar has Artwork Displayed at Tampa Museum

Allen Morales artwork

The Academies of RCMA have always stressed the importance of offering a STEAM-focused curriculum. STEAM is an acronym that stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math, and while other schools might focus solely on STEM, RCMA has always embraced the arts as an important part of a well- rounded education. Nothing is more evident than the amazing artworks that come from RCMA’s Wimauma Community Academy (WCA). And for one scholar, his artwork is getting some much-deserved attention.

Each year the Tampa Museum of Art invites Hillsborough County art teachers to submit a student’s artwork for the Young at Art Student Exhibition, with submissions from students in kindergarten through eighth grade. For the fourth consecutive year, WCA is participating in the event, giving a student the opportunity to exhibit in one of the most important art spaces in central Florida. This year, a piece from WCA scholar Allen Morales was selected. Allen is one of the school’s most talented students in the Middle School Art program. His work is a pencil drawing that conveys the beauty of his Hispanic heritage. Allen’s work, along with other student submissions from throughout the county, will be on exhibit at the museum from now until March 17. Admission to the exhibition is free. We are so proud of you Allen!
