PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Grant Writer will identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned organization program activities. This role involves leading the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. The Grant Writer will also manage federal funding as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:

  1. Conducts research to identify new public, corporate, foundation, and private grant opportunities for both the organization as a whole and for specific programs and projects that align with RCMA’s strategic priorities.
  2. Prepares and submits high-quality, well-researched grant proposals, letters of inquiry, narratives, and supporting documents in response to solicitations, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  3. Collaborates with key staff to develop grant budgets and financial projections.
  4. Collaborates with key program and contracts staff to collect, analyze, and report data on funded program performance, ensuring timely impact reporting of funded program activities.
  5. Serves as a liaison to current and potential funders, maintaining professional and effective communication while ensuring adherence to grant makers’ missions, submission guidelines, and reporting deadlines.
  6. Manages and tracks grant submissions, follows up on proposal progress, and maintains accurate, up-to-date records of awards and funding.
  7. Tracks grant progress in collaboration with program staff and fiscal department, ensuring timely expenditures and grant closeout to meet project deadlines and adhere to established guidelines.
  8. Maintains and updates the agency’s grants and contracts schedule, ensuring accuracy in tracking current grants and forecasting future applications. Keep the agency’s grants and contracts spreadsheet current and ensure the calendar reflects all relevant deadlines.
  9. Meets regularly with management and department teams to discuss funding needs and ensure grant proposals align with agency-wide priorities and strategic plan.
  10. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal funding regulations.
  11. Ensures compliance with grant management policies, procedures, and donor ethics.
  12. Collaborates with staff to provide guidance on the allowability of proposed grant expenditures, ensuring alignment with funder intent and established guidelines.
  13. Reports progress and any issues related to grants to the supervisor.
  14. Works with Database and Office manager to accurately input data in to RCMA’s donor database.
  15. Supports and coordinates activities, events and projects related to development and community relations. Participate in RCMA events and programs, including those held on evenings and weekends.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in a related field such as Public Administration, Business, Communications, or Non-Profit Management.
  • 3 -5 years of experience in grant writing experience, preferably with an education focus.
